Do I need
a partner?
NO, in fact dancing is a great way to meet new
friends/partners.
Do I have
to switch partners in the classes?
While we realize that some folks come as partners and
have a goal of dancing together as a couple, we also
realize that there are people who come without partners.
In order to get the most out of the learning process, you
must change partners throughout the classes. This is the
best way to learn to lead and follow different styles of
dancers. It also helps avoid learning the pitfalls of
your regular partner. We have found that most people tend
to lose patience quickly with someone they know very
well. This is another reason why it is always a good idea
to change partners frequently during class. An
accomplished dancer is able to adjust to any partner.
What
should I wear?
Office attire is what most people wear for dancing.
The majority of our students come straight from the
office. You should wear leather-soled shoes that will
easily slide on the floor. (Not too slippery though) Any
outfit you wear to dance in should be loose-fitting enough
to allow you to move in comfort without feeling restricted
(ie, legs or arms.)
Will I
feel silly if I come alone to a Friday Night Open?
No, people are very friendly at the Friday dances, and
if you let the staff know it’s your first time in the
studio, they will do their best to make you feel at home
and so will the students. The majority of people come
without a partner to the Friday dances, but there are
couples who enjoy coming together.
What is
the age range?
The age range is from 20s to 50s in weekday
classes. On weekends20s and beyond at the
dance parties.
